Curse of the Oppressed

Narrated Ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhu): “The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) sent Muadh (radi Allahu anhu) to Yemen and said, ‘Be afraid, from the curse of the oppressed as there is no screen between his invocation and Allah.’” [The Book of Al-Mazalim: Sahih Bukhari]

A person’s character can be judged by their treatment of the people who are weaker than them, i.e. those in a subordinate position to them. As we deal with those who are weaker than us, Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) will deal with us on the Day of Judgement. Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) responds to the oppressed person’s invocation and punishes the oppressor sooner or later. There is no escaping Allah’s justice. Therefore, one should always keep Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) in mind when dealing with others.
