Your Right to Privacy

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: "Were a man to look at you without permission and you threw a rock at him and knocked out his eye, you would not have committed any offense." Another hadith states: "Whoever peeps into a house without its people's leave, they may put out his eye." [Sahih Muslim]

These are stern warnings against peeping and prying into the private life of others. Some do it as a practical joke, others as a pastime, some just to be intrusive and some perhaps without realizing the enormity of the offence. This hadith reminds us of each individual's and each family's right to privacy that cannot be violated.
